Wednesday 21st July
6:00 am: Spirits high as I wake up ready to prepare for another day at the World Championships.
6:05 am: Morale dips as for third day in succession bathroom expedition fails to produce desired result.
6:10 am: Morale takes another blow as scale shows weight 3 pounds over target. Curse gravity.
7:00 am: Consume copious amounts of watermelon and yogurt at breakfast in effort to tackle aforementioned problem.
9:00 am: Arrive Banyoles race course for practice. Beatiful, clear blue lake in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Rhythm on the water is great. Spirits buoyed to pre-Water Closet levels.
11:00 am: Finally relief. Scale now reads 1 pound below target. Approval ratings of Banyoles trip soar.
12:00 noon: Consume more watermelon in effort to remain proactive.
2:00 pm: Watch Lance drop science on the rest of the Tour. Morale now at all-time high.
5:00 pm: Afternoon row. Stroking like a champion.
7:00 pm: Further watermelon infusion.
10:00 pm: Lie in bed and stare at ceiling. Still on U.S. time.
Speaking of weigh-ins, here's what some other lightweights were up to; John Cashman writes:
Ed - As you can see Tom Paradiso and Chris Greenleaf have adapted quite nicely to the relaxed lifestyle here in Spain. (rated PG-13)
