The adaptive championships were rowed after the morning reps today, with one three-boat singles race, and one seven-boat fours race. Once the crews got past the floating start and the issue of staying in their lanes, the racing went off well enough, with the best crews performing well. Adaptive rowing's day hasn't quite arrived, as only a few crews were up to a standard that one would expect at a world championships, or near the level of competition you'll find in some adaptive sports such as running and basketball, but this was a start. Here's hoping that these races will inspire these and other adaptive rowers to take their rowing to a new level.
The US LM2x switched seats for the rep, with Conal Groom now sitting at stroke, and Stephen Arthur Wong at bow. They might have picked up some speed, but not quite enough, failing to make the top twelve A-B semi group.
With the course closed due to wind and rough conditions last night, the entire world of elite rowing tried to get time on about 40 or so ergs onsite. row2k wasn't even able to complete its erg workout, as no media hack of any sense would hold onto an erg while actual active rowers were waiting for a machine, so a surrender of the erg to someone who earned the seat was in order. Ah, but a solid 15' pull it was...
