My Nightmare
by Sebastian Bea
(Note: Last year, Cass was tapped to serve as spare in the LW women's quad, and won a silver medal.
I dreamt last night a terrible dream
Probably brought on by Old Jim Beam
Somehow the worst had come true
I had to row with you know who
The story of Cassandra had come to fruition
I was now stuck with an impossible mission
Row with Adam, pirate of the sea
He kinda reminds me of Ted Kazinsky.
Well this is what you're here for, Mike would say
But I thought my job was to get some play?
Stay out all night, paint the town red
It's only been one night that I've slept in my bed.
A Spare is taught to get some action
I wasn't buying this rowing distraction
But there I was, in the race
With little chance to keep Adam's pace.
He pulled me around, from lane 1 to lane 6
This was a pair that no one could fix.
And just as my dream could get no worse
I awake with a shot, I awake with a burst.
Someone had left a note on my door
It said that I'd be a spare no more.
So for all you spares and spares to be
Remember Cass and remember me.
Worlds might be about sex and beer,
Parties and nights filled with cheer,
But if you're a spare, I tell you "Beware,"
Hey I got to row, and I'm a Cal Bear.
