2015 Outlook - "As it has for the last 41 years, Yale is preparing to race in the Ivy League, the best and toughest rowing conference in NCAA division one rowing. The Ivy League has won more NCAA team championships, more varsity eight championships, has more top 3 and top 5 team finishes than any other conference in the country. No matter how you break it down, history shows, the Ivy League is the best women's rowing conference in division one. Yale enters this spring with a renewed sense of focus after being passed over by the NCAA selection committee last year.
"Coming off a successful post season Henley campaign which saw our 2V win the Senior Eight event at HWR while our Varsity fell to the UK U23 composite in the final only to come back and beat them 2 weeks later in the Henley Royal Regatta quarterfinal. The varsity eight then went on to race the Dutch Senior National team in the semifinal falling by a respectable two and a quarter lengths. We know being able to race internationally as a collegiate team is a privilege that few athletes get. We look to use the experience gained at Henley in our 2015 racing season.
"This fall we rowed more miles than ever before, spending time in pairs, fours and eights. We had a great fall racing mixed line ups and showing well at the HOCR and Princeton Chase. Seniors Nina Demmerle (captain), Maddie Dinse, Kristi Wagner (USA U23 pair), Amina Edwards, Natalie Lapides, Kristy Gunmundsson, Kara Freeman, Sarah Weil, Laura Grimbergen and Christy Devlin lead the balanced team. Yale only graduated 3 seniors from last year's varsity eight (9-2) and added 10 strong freshmen raising the depth and competition within the squad. Right now we are training our brains out trying to be as fit as possible while we watch the snow pile up. Our racing goals are the same they have ever been, go as fast as we possibly can and have a blast doing it. We can't wait to race for Yale."
