2023 Outlook - "One hundred years ago nine men from Washington won our first Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship in June of 1923.
"As today we stare down a post-covid intercollegiate athletics landscape that looks very different from just a few years ago, you can feel the anticipation of something new in the boathouse every day now. An ASUW shellhouse about to be re-born, a Boys in the Boat movie about to go global, new practices, new blood, new life. It feels transformational. And it has driven a solidarity on this team that feels right: a solidarity of purpose that strong teams thrive on, a competition that pushes and drives and defines us to our core.
"I am so proud of my coaching group this year, and of this team. They understand change, they understand challenge, and they have been on board with all of it from the very first day.
"Washington Rowing was made for strong people. You may not come in here strong, but when you leave you are. Ed Leader, and Rusty Callow, and the 1923 National Champions understood that. As do we."

2022 Outlook - "Looking forward to building on the foundation we had last season. We need to stay humble about the process and show courage when it comes to the challenges ahead. I believe we have a a good balance of strong senior leadership and a younger group eager to learn. I know everyone at Conibear is excited and grateful to race this spring."

2021 Outlook - "George Pocock addressed the power of rowing to help young people find and be the best version of themselves. His philosophy remains deeply embedded in our program today. Whatever the future may hold for us this season, our student-athletes are treasuring the mere fact that they are together again after the painful absences of last season. They are becoming better teammates, better students, better human beings. While we all look forward to racing, winning and making our supporters proud this season, Washington oarsmen are taking to the water, to the classroom and to life simply for the joy of it."

2020 Outlook - "This season’s team has tremendous potential. While they are less seasoned overall than recent teams, they are hungry and talented. Almost every rower in 2019’s top two eights has graduated. That means rowers are taking on new and unfamiliar roles this season, perhaps stepping into boats earlier in their careers than might be typical. Quite a few of our 2020 rowers were in the group that won the Henley in 2018. Now, they are stepping up to take on leadership roles. Our freshman also will make an impact this season. We’ll also lose some top rowers to Olympic training. We’re proud to support the international dreams of these stellar competitors, many of whom will be back next season to complete their UW careers."
