2020 Outlook - "The work ethic is improved some since last year, which for what will be a young squad will be important. The best athletes are learning about leading and will get some valuable experience learning about what it takes to win in the Varsity 8. We have a solid freshman class and I am excited to see what they can put on the water, and to boost depth in future years on the varsity squad. It will be a challenge for us to win the men's team point trophy again, as Notre Dame is the hands down favorite to win it this year, but we are working towards that goal."

2019 Outlook - "While we have a lot of guys returning from the 1V and 2V, the late fall was filled with injuries and our best guy is unfortunately out for the year. Upon returning from semester break things have improved and with steady training has brought scores down and are competitive with the standard needed to compete for May championship medals. More steps need to be taken yet in that regard."

- Varsity 8 - 4th at ACRA, 7th at Dad Vails, MACRA Champs
- 2nd Varsity 8 - ACRA Champs, MACRA Champs
- Freshmen 8 - 4th at ACRA, MACRA Champs
Returning Varsity 8+ Athletes - 3
2018 Seniors - 5
2018 Outlook - "Like last year we had many guys from the 1V graduate so it will be a relatively new group in the 1V. Fortunately, last year's 2V was on the stern of the 1V and many of those guys are stepping up this year. I expect our technical rowing to be better this year. Our few seniors are doing a good job of leading and the juniors are taking leadership roles as well. We have a large sophomore class with a lot of depth. Our freshmen have had a good winter thus far, work hard, and seem to have good chemistry."

2017 Seniors - 11
2017 Outlook - "We lost a 15 person graduating class from 2016 but welcomed a large talented group of sophomores and have some hungry seniors who are doing a great job leading this team. We have a good team chemistry and talented freshmen this year. While we will lack a lot of experience deep into the team, we will be fit and the guys are making the necessary investment to win right now. The biggest question will be how well we can get this young team rowing. If they work as hard on the water as they are off we have the potential to contend in May."

- Varsity 8 - MACRA Champs, ECAC NIRC Champs, ACRA Champs, 2nd at Vails

- Freshmen 8 - 2nd at MACRA
Returning Varsity 8+ Athletes - 6
2016 Seniors - 15
2016 Outlook - "With a large senior class who is leading the team, we will have more depth than last year. The finishes at the Head of the Charles indicates both the varsity and second varsity eights could be in a position to medal at May races. Our freshman class is really solid and having a good winter thus far. One team first was that we had no one quit over the semester break around the holidays. It is a dedicated group. We are planning to take up to two eights of athletes to Henley this summer."

- 2nd Varsity 8 - MACRA Champs, 2nd at Dad Vails, ECAC/NIRC Champs, ACRA Champs
Returning Varsity 8+ Athletes - 4
2015 Seniors - 6
2015 Outlook - "With a large graduating class of 2014 (14 athletes) and losing 5 oarsmen in the 1V and 4 from the 2V, how the rising team responded was a question mark. However 2014 was a very deep team, and sophomores last year gained valuable experience and are the driving force of this team as juniors. The sophomore class is also a solid group of guys and will be good leaders in a few years when they are seniors. The senior class is small, but three guys will factor into V8 selection. Our win at the Head of the Charles in the Collegiate 8 showed us we could be fast if the right work is done over the winter. So far, so good in that department. We should have Dad Vail, ECAC NIRC, and ACRA medalist contending crews if the wheels don't come off between now and then."

- Freshmen 8 - ECAC-NIRC Champs, MACRA Champs, 3rd at ACRA
Returning Varsity 8+ Athletes - 5
2014 Seniors - 12
2014 Outlook - "The fall was productive and we have had a great winter training, producing the best ergs we have had in 7 years. Solid senior and junior leadership mixed with eager sophomores make this a well balanced team, and one of the deeper ones I have coached here in recent years. I like how this group attacks practices and they row decently well for mostly guys who started rowing in college. The 2V will push the 1V in speed this year. We are trying to make the most of our spring break training trip as it looks like we won't be getting on the water for several weeks due to the hardest winter Michigan has had in decades. I can envision going to our first races with having had no water time at all. Much ice."
-Head Coach Gregg Hartsuff
Head Coach - Gregg Hartsuff, 21st year
2012 Finish
- Varsity 8 - MACRA and Dad Vail Champs, 3rd at ACRA
- 2nd Varsity 8 - Dad Vail and ACRA Champs
- Freshmen - 6th at Dad Vails, 4th at ACRAs
Returning Varsity 8+ Athletes - 2
2013 Seniors - 10
2013 Outlook - "With 7 athletes from the 1V and 4 from the 2V graduating, this will be a season that men learn new roles on the team. We have decent athleticism in this group, but maturity is the big question mark. How we go about our business is the big question mark I have at this point. We have done a good job recently, and it has improved from what it was earlier in the winter. With a good spring break training and focused March and April we can be up to competitive speed. Our depth won't be what it was the past few years, but we are striving for a top three finish in the team points at the Dad Vail and ACRA. The V8 could be competitive with the right effort and focus from the top athletes."
