Conditions: Weather conditions were extremely variable with a cross head wind, making it difficult to judge the relative speeds between the crews from 4th to 1st.

In order of racing:
2V Moderate cross head
4V Slight Cross head
1V Strongest Cross Head
3V minimal wind, best conditions.
In 2V race, Lincoln got blown toward bridge abutment and lost possibly two seconds as port blades ticked bridge on two strokes. They never stopped rowing, however. At that time, the order was the same as the finish.
