Distance: 5,000 meters
Comments: Races were started with a standing race start. Both varsity and novice eights races were stopped about 3500 meters in due to an oil tanker being turned by two tug boats on the race course. Results with margins were determined based on where crews were at that time.
A sprint was held for some of the novice crews at the end.
