Junior: Southern California Challenge Cup I
February 22, 2004; Tecolete Channel, Mission Bay, San Diego

Submitted by Greg Kogut.

Distance: ~1000m?
Conditions: Rainy, windy.
Comments: After delaying the race for about an hour and a half, the officiating crew called the race because of unsafe winds, and most of the teams started to pack up and leave. However conditions began to improve in mid-trailer-loading. And magically improved to a very nice day in a classic application of Murphy's Law to race officiating. So Long Beach Junior Crew, Marina Aquatic Center, and the San Diego Rowing Club Junior Crew quickly re-rigged, and attempted an informal scrimmage without officials. About 2/3 of the races were run off a rolling start, on a shortened course. Results are not given here because of the informal nature of the racing, and the absence of the Newport Aquatic Center and ZLAC from the racings.
