LONDON, ONT.: Clear winners dominated the second round of heavyweight women's rowing trials (speed orders) on Fanshawe Lake in London today. Rowers are competing for two spots on the Pan Am team as well as Under-23 and the remaining Senior A positions.

Marilyn Taylor of Calgary, Alta. (8:13.10) and Stacey Norwood of St. John, N.B. (8:04.80) won their respective heats in the women's singles. Norwood, who had the fastest time in this event today, has already been named to the single for the prestigious British Henley Royal regatta and is now looking to be one of the heavyweight female scullers named to the 2003 Pan Am team.

Winners of the women's pair were Rachelle deJong of Regina, Sask. and Bonnie Fiala of Enderby, B.C. in the first heat in 7:44.04, and Laura Middleton of Toronto, Ont. rowing with Krista Stewart of Winnipeg, Man. in the other heat in 7:48.08.

Racing is just beginning in Victoria (8 a.m. Pacific) - watch for updates later today. Featured are the heavyweight men, including members of the 2002 World Championship men's eight; lightweight men, including several World medallists and former Olympians, and lightweight women, always a hotly contested event.

Those racing in Victoria are competing for spots on Senior A, Under-23 and PanAm teams.
