Conditions: Steady tailwind with stronger cross-tail gusts. Tailwind varied in strength throughout racing. Calmer water in first 500, with building choppiness in the final 1,000 meters.
Comments: - The race was for the du Pont Cup, held anually since 1977.
- Order of racing 4-3-2-1-5/6, alternating with girls.
- In the boy's 4th boat race: at around 1200m the Taft 3 seat broke his oar and the boat ended up coming to a dead stop. At the time of the breakage, they were sitting alone in 2nd place, and it seemed as though they would have finished in that position.
