Collegiate Men
Rainier Cup- Lewis & Clark, Puget Sound, Pacific Lutheran
April 24, 2022 - Vancouver Lake, WA
Submitted by Sam Taylor, Lewis & Clark College
Distance: 2000m
Conditions: Brilliant sunshine, dead flat, barely a puff of wind, spring racing at it's finest. Fully buoyed course, stakeboat starts.
Comments: All coaches present agreed times seemed unusually slow today based on recent races and workouts, anywhere from 15-30 seconds depending on the speed of the event. With near perfect conditions it was hard to account for. There was fairly low water, and the leading hypothesis is bottom drag due to shallow water- the local course guru said the middle thousand may be as shallow as 3-4 feet, and the lake has been silting in. With nothing else to go on, it was either that or carp on the fins.
Big thanks to our referees, volunteers, and PVRA for a great day of racing!
