Groton School Boys Crew vs. Middlesex School Boys Crew
April 23, 2003 - Nashua River
Submitted by Wayne Berger
Distance: 1200 meters
Conditions: Temperature in the low 50's. Overcast with a slight head-wind for the first two races, shifting to a slight tail for the last two races. Moderate current given the recent rain. Water on most of the course was like glass. Order of races were 3,4,1,2. Third boats started about 1 1/2 lengths past the start; fourth boats were on the line; first boats were on the line; second boats were 1/2 length past the line.
* Groton hot-seated a starboard from the third boat to the second boat because of illness.
Comments: A good opening day of racing. Coxswains from both crews are to be applauded for steering well on the Groton course-aka "The Amazon." Groton's next race is on Saturday vs. SMS at Quinsig.
