Conditions: Start of the day had light cross-head wind of 7mph and light ripples. Throughout the day the conditions improved to perfect: 65 degrees, no wind, flat water. You wouldn't believe it was Indy.

Comments: 2000 meters, no current. Morning dual/tri races were held.  In some events this determined who made the
Grand Final.  In other events the grand finals consisted of all entries.  None
of the results for the morning races are given.

Regatta Notes: This was the largest number of competitors this race has ever had. There was representation from all of the Big Ten schools except Ohio State who were elsewhere, and Illinois, which does not having rowing.

Women's Teams competing: Indiana, Northwestern, Penn State, and Purdue. The five women's programs that have varsity status (Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Wisconsin) were not in attendance.

Men's Teams competing: Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue, and Wisconsin. The only Big Ten men's program missing was Ohio State. This was Iowa and Minnesota's first Merrill Lynch.

The Big Ten programs in attendance would like to thank Merrill Lynch, the Indianapolis Rowing Center, USRowing, and Dave Kucik of Purdue for organizing the 5th annual Merrill Lynch regatta.
