Aussie Rowing Team races German Army, 2001

This is us (the Aussie men's eight 2001) training in Breisach with the German Army doing amphibious exercises around us.
So the Aussie Rowing Team raced the German Army as a warm-up to the World's 2001. Crew is- Michael Toon c, Stephen Stewart, Chris Baylis, Cam McKenzie-McHarg,
Matt Long, Nick Baxter, Bill Tait, Dave Matthews (res), Dave Dennis. Rob Douglas (final 2 seat out injured). Coach and photographer, Chris O'Brien.

This picture was taken at the RowOntario Canada Summer Games team camp at Shawnigan Lake, BC
The whole team climbed Mt. Finlayson together and on the way back down the boys decided to climb up on the log and "go for a row."

Since their race at Indiana got canceled due to the race course being frozen, Wisconsin varsity rowers decided to have a snowman making contest on Lake Mendota. With the snow being as hard as the ice, they went for a row instead.

"This picture was taken when we went down to the river to get in a row, and our coaches went to inspect the river and there was ice. This was the saddest site watching them in their survival suits looking onto the river and having to face the fact we wouldn't be able to row."
