Wow!! That's all you can say about the US M4x this weekend in Lucerne. I looked at the results and almost spit out the drink I was drinking, I just KNEW the POL M4x had won gold . . . to see that the US had pulled away from FOURTH place was amazing. I watched the video and was in awe of the raw power the US showed in pulling away from POL. It was something to be amazed by. I hope they can build up more speed and show that speed in Beijing. I can't wait!! GO USA!!
The 4x race was awesome. Scotty G did an awesome job at stroke seat and they were all really calm and collected as they walked through those Polish sausages.
A brand new combination putting down the three-time defending world champions in the second 1000m in Lucerne... sorry ladies of the NCAA but this week I'm all about the USA M4X. Although it seems like the guys would have come out of nowhere onto the international scene given the recent history of the men's sculling program, I know otherwise. These guys work so incredibly hard, and just destroy themselves day in and day out for this sport... a well-deserved win for the US boys and an awesomely brutal wake up call for the Polish men!!
Even though Yale WV8 won NCAA's, hat's down to that crew. But it was a standing ovation for Stanford WV8. I believe I speak for majority of the people who attended this regatta, Stanford showed a race of a life time. Not only did they make it to the grand finals, but also held off Yale, Brown, Cal and all the other teams for majority of the race until Yale pulled ahead. The way I see it, Stanford went out there and pissed off some crews, girls, coaches, and parents. That's why they deserve to be the crew of the week for June 3, 2008. Thank you.
The victory marked the first time that the U.S. men’s quadruple sculls had won a gold medal in a Rowing World Cup event in Europe. Making history, guess Matt and Sam had the right idea moving to the Quad.
