1. What inspired you to go to your first rowing practice; was there anything memorable about it?
When I was selected, I didn't know much about rowing. I remember that the first thought I had when I got to the training camp where I was going to live and train was, that the next day I’ll take my train ticket and head home. What do you know? I did the opposite! I wanted to try this sport and I can say that I liked it from the beginning. I liked the idea of being surrounded by so many new friends. As for training, I've always liked being the best at what I do and I haven't changed that in rowing either.
2. Was there a practice, race or other event when you fell in love with the sport, or when you knew you might not be too bad at rowing? When you thought you could make the national team?
I fell in love with this sport the most when I did my first boat training on the water. I liked the feeling of slipping and caressing the water. In the period that followed, I had a constant evolution in the single sculls. Every control race proved to me that I am made for this sport and that the future can be promising. I started rowing in October 2013 and I was selected to national team in August 2014.
3. Best race/practice, worst race/practice?
Every race had pros and cons. Good rhythm, technical error, inattention, fluidity. I had trainings in which I felt like a normal person (not a rower) sitting in the boat and trying to row at a professional level (mission impossible). I also had trainings in which I felt like I was flying, that I had maximum efficiency and that nothing could stop me. The important part is that I learned something from both of them: bad and good.
4. Best/Anything you've done in the sport no one knows about?
In almost 8 years of rowing, I am proud that I have never fallen off the boat. There were moments when I was close to taking a bath but I regained my balance in the last moments.
5. Any/Most important advice for young rowers?
To have patience and work hard. To set a goal and do everything to fulfill it. To want everything and never give up. To love what they do.
