U.S. Olympic single sculler Jennifer Devine of Seattle's Pocock Rowing Center (www.pocockrowing.org ) will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the July 19 Major League Baseball Game between the Seattle Mariners and Boston Red Sox at SAFECO Field in Seattle.
Devine will take the field for the ceremonial first pitch just prior to the games 7:05 p.m. start. The game will be telecast live in high definition on Fox Sports Net. Tickets are available by visiting www.seattlemariners.com
Devine, a native of Portland, Ore., is preparing for her second Olympic Games in Athens this August. She is now a five-time U.S. National Team member and finished seventh in the womens single sculls at the 2001 World Rowing Championships. At the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games she was ninth in the womens double sculls. Devine is undefeated in 2004. Her road to Athens includes victories at the U.S. National Selection Regatta, U.S. Olympic Trials, and Olympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne to qualify for Athens.
She is a graduate of the University of Washington and University of Washington Medical School and will begin her medical residency this fall at Washington.
