Twenty-four junior athletes from the USRowing Junior National Team Selection and High Performance Camps have been chosen to participate on the 2015 Junior Worlds Development Team in Banyoles, Spain to train and experience international travel from July 8- July 18.
The 2015 Junior Worlds Development Team was selected from the Junior Women Sweep Selection, Junior Women Sculling Selection Camp, Junior Men's High Performance Camp and the Junior Men's Sculling Selection Camp.
The intent of the world development team is to provide a unique development opportunity for athletes who have birthdays in 1998 or later that have demonstrated the ability to compete at a high level and provide them with international training and racing experience.
"We started this three years ago and it's been an experience to allow our top athletes that did not make the junior national team a chance to really extent their rowing skill set with all straight boat rowing," said Junior National Team Development Coach Steve Hargis.
"We do all pairs and straight fours. The goal is not to race. It's a pretty intensive training program and pairs matrix do be sure that we are really getting the skill set we are looking for going into the next year."
