All three of Canada's crews at the 2012 Samsung World Rowing Cup III, in Munich, Germany, raced today.
The Paralympic mixed four was second in its repechage, and advance to the A final, which is raced tomorrow. Ukraine was first at the 1000-metre finish line in 3:32.65, with Canada in second in 3:37.14, and France very close in third in 3:37.16. Brazil also qualified for the final from this rep, with top four moving forward.
This crew is (coxswain) Kristen Kit of St. Catharines, Ont., Victoria Nolan of Toronto, David Blair of Ottawa, Meghan Montgomery of Winnipeg, MB, and Tony Theriault of Nanaimo, B.C.
Earlier today, in what is commonly termed a "race for lanes," the women's eight won in 6:05.19.
"We had a confidence-building race today," said the eight's coach, John Keogh. "We look forward to testing ourselves again on Sunday in our last international race prior to the Olympics."
This eight has already qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games. Rowing in Munich is Janine Hanson of Winnipeg, MB, Rachelle Viinberg of Regina, Sask., Krista Guloien of Port Moody, B.C., Lauren Wilkinson of North Vancouver, Natalie Mastracci of Thorold, Ont., Ashley Brzozowicz of London, Ont., Darcy Marquardt of Richmond, B.C., Andreanne Morin of Montreal, and Lesley Thompson-Willie of London, ON.
Romania, who had not yet faced Canada this year, was a close second in this preliminary race in 6:05.96.
In the women's pair event, Canada's Carolyn Ganes of Saskatoon, Sask. and Larissa Lagzdins of Burlington, Ont., were second to New Zealand (7:23.05) in 7:28.82 in today's heat, and now row in a rep tomorrow.
