Qualifying for the collegiate men's and women's championships at the end of May is well underway, with seven more teams earning automatic bids over the weekend.
The first IRA bid went out on Friday to the Ithaca men, who booked their trip with a win at the Liberty League Championship. Marietta claimed the second on Sunday, as the top eligible qualifier at the MARC Championship on Mercer Lake. This will be Ithaca's second trip in a row to the IRA, while Marietta, in its first year opting into the D3 Championship, will make its IRA D3 debut.
The IRA's Lightweight Women's Championship has its first group of automatic qualifiers as well: Princeton, Radcliffe, and Boston University punched their tickets to the IRA as the top three finishers at Women's Sprints. Princeton is the four-time defending national champion and won both the light eight and light four at Women's Sprints, along with a silver in the light double.
NCAA Division III qualification also continued this past weekend, with Ithaca winning the Liberty League and St. Mary's (MD) earning their third bid to the championships--and a return trip--with their win at the MARCs. Ithaca is a two-time NCAA champion, most recently in 2005, and sits at #6 in the latest CRCA poll, while St. Mary's (MD) polled at #12 this week.
More information on the IRA qualification process can be found in row2k's 2025 IRA Championships coverage. Qualification will continue this coming weekend at the NESCAC, NIRC, and Dad Vail Regattas for the IRA.
The final AQ for the NCAA Division III Championship goes to the winner of this weekend's NESCAC Championship, who will join Ithaca, St. Mary's (MD), NEWMAC champion Wellesley and four at-large teams to race for this year's Division III crown.
More information on each of the Division III Championship Qualifiers can be found in row2k's 2025 NCAA Championships coverage. The NCAA Division III Selection Show is set for Tuesday, May 13th at 4:30 PM EST.
