Following the cancellation of the ACRA 2020 Regatta, the ACRA Board convened to discuss the impact this would have on the eligibility of student-athletes. Please see the below rulings on ACRA student-athlete eligibility.
ELIGIBILITY RULING: The 2019-2020 academic year of competition for all athletes will not count against an athlete's four years of eligibility. However, athletes must still complete their four years of competition within the standard 5-year window. If a program has an athlete that requests an exemption to this, the Head Coach must apply in writing to the ACRA Board. To clarify, if you were a Full-Time Freshman in Spring 2020, your last semester of eligibility will be Spring 2024.
NOVICE CLASSIFICATION: Novice eligibility is lost if an athlete competed in an official competition throughout the academic year (2019-2020). If an athlete did not compete in an official race, then their novice eligibility remains intact for 2020-2021 season. Any programs that have concerns about their roster size for next season should reach out to their Regional Rep to discuss their options.
Please direct any questions you may have to your ACRA Regional Representative, or directly to ACRA President, Cam Brown
