Wellesley College announced Friday that the school 'will not compete in traditional varsity athletic competition during the spring 2021 season,' including regular season and championship competitions.
The decision affects the rowing, golf, lacrosse, softball, tennis, and track & field programs.
Students who live on campus will be able to continue to practice and train 'within relevant guidelines.' Director of Athletics Bethany Ellis said that 'We will continue to do everything we can to allow our students to enjoy and engage in the sports they love' in a release.
