The Canadian Men's Four took to the stage for the B final at 9:20ET. Mackenzie Copp, David de Groot, Kai Langerfeld and Taylor Perry laid it all on the line in the final 250m, surpassing the United States and France to take 2nd place with a time of 5:55.76.
"All week our strength has been in the last 250m and that was reflected in this race," said Copp. "We're satisfied with the result for today and we are definitely hungry to get back to training. We are racing the championship eight at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston next month. We will regroup in Victoria and train for that event." The Men's Four place 8th overall at the 2017 World Rowing Championships.
The Women's Four lined up immediately after the men at 9:25ET. Canada battled right to the line with ITA and NZL securing 3rd place position in 6:40.20.
"We are a bit disappointed in the overall result this week but that's because we hold such a high standard for ourselves," said Christine Roper. "We are proud of the races that we had this week and what we've learned. Our commitment to each other never failed so we walk away with heads held high and continue our campaigning towards Tokyo 2020." Susanne Grainger, Nicole Hare, Lisa Roman and Christine Roper will all regroup and join the Women's eight for the A final race tomorrow. "Recovery is important in the next 24 hours and keeping our motivation high. It's not just another race, it's a big one."
The Women's Four place 9th place overall at the 2017 World Championships.
