The San Diego Crew Classic will race on 27 March, 2021 - both virtually and remotely on the water with a full program of all the races of eights and fours. The Rowing Season Starts Here! We are delighted to announce that this year's regatta will be a virtual regatta with live team racing on ergometers and also water racing for boats that are eligible. We are excited to announce that the registration for the San Diego Crew Classic will be open on January 29, 2021 on Regatta Central.
What Races on the ergometer?
All of the usual races for youth, collegiate, masters, and para on the erg as team boats, 8s and 4s, with the exception of the Copley Cup and the Jessop-Whittier Cup.
What is on the water?
All events will be held on the water as 2x1500m for collegiate crews and 2x1250m for everyone else.
How will they be run?
Ergometer racing will be held by Time Team on Saturday March 27, 2021 based on the schedule that will be listed on Regatta Central.
On the water racing will be via GPS and times turned into Regatta Central from March 19-26, 2021.
How do I win a trophy?
Your team wins their erg race over 2000m. The exceptions are the Copley Cup and Jessop-Whittier which will only be run on the water.
Do I get anything else?
Yes, you win the #1 seed at the 2022 regatta.
Do all of our athletes need to be in the same place to participate in the ergometer team boat racing?
They do not. They simply need an internet connection, a Concept2 ergometer, a laptop or computer, and USB cables - details will be posted soon on our website.
