Best club name belonged to Lindsay Burns in the single: Pain Therapeutics.
Overheard on Weeks:
Steve! Go, Steve! Perfect turn, Steve! Gor for it, Steve! Yeah, Steve! Go, Steve! Woooooooooooo, Steve!
The Duke Club 4 that had such a disastrous episode mid-course yesterday, as mentioned in the Saturday update and shown in the Saturday galleries, may have been interfered with significantly, setting off the chain of events that followed. One member of the crew noted that “We could have protested, but just didn’t see the point.” They took the high road, well done.
The Champ 2x had four crews of brothers, (Canha, Gartner, and the Klingsporn twins), but no sister crews that we could see. Of course, married women may have changed their names; anyone know better?
Attendance this year: 86,000 on Saturday, 123,000 on Sunday, below previous years, but probably not bad given the weather.
Harsh comment of the day:
A: “Whew, that crew is off course. What bow number is that?”
B: “Bow number Last.”
At least one course record fell today, impressive given the conditions, in the LW women’s eight by the crew from Riverside.
In the Vet women’s singles, Brooke Stevens won by an adjusted 1:40.
Heartbreaker of the day: in the mens’ Senior Masters Single, John Tracey beat Jamie Gordon by 0.109 seconds.
We’ll likely be doing the Sunday photo galleries tomorrow; see you then!
Another HOCR is ended; congrats to everyone racing and running the regatta.
