USRowing maintains a strong and long tradition of rewarding excellence in rowing. Following a year of unprecedented achievement, the rowing community has designated strong nominees for the 2012 Fan's Choice Awards which are solely nominated and voted on by rowing fans. Vote now!

Christine Cavallo/O.A.R.S.
Achieved tremendous success as a competitive junior rower despite her small size. Won the Junior Lightweight Category at the 2012 CRASH-Bs. Won the Florida State Sculling Championships and the Southeast Regionals Youth Championships in a double. Won silver in the women's pair at Junior Worlds, the first time USA won a medal in this category.

Rosie Grinalds/GMS
Won gold in the women's quadruple sculls and women's single sculls at the 2012 USRowing Youth National Championships. Member of the women's junior quadruple sculls boat at the 2012 World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships , winning its first-ever medal (silver).

Harrison Malec/Saugatuck RC
Collapsed at rowing practice and was revived by teammates. Recovered from open-heart surgery and rowed on the 2012 varsity team, winning his first rowing medal at Independence Day Regatta this summer. Channels his energy into fundraising and awareness for learning CPR through "Harrison's Heart".

Graham Mink/Maritime RC
Won a gold medal at Junior Nationals in the men's quadruple sculls and won Junior Trials in the men's single. Represented the U.S. at the Junior World Championships.

Alia Shafi/Oakland Strokes
Won 17 of 19 races. Won gold, stroking the varsity eight, at San Diego Crew Classic and 2012 USRowing Youth National Championships. Won gold in lightweight eight and four at the USRowing SW Regionals. Won gold in U19 women's eight and four and U23 lightweight straight four and eight at Canadian Henley.
