Kara Kohler has been the queen of American sculling over the past decade, racing as the USA women's single sculler every year since 2018, and winning an Olympic bronze medal in the women's quad in 2012.
She qualified the USA in the W1x event for the Paris Olympics by finishing fourth at the 2023 Belgrade World Championships, but still had to qualify herself as the single sculler in Paris. Here is a photo of her celebrating her win at Trials in April, punching her ticket to her third Olympics, where she would go on to finish in fifth place.
