Here is a sweet trailer trick that the good folks--and frequent trailer drivers--at Vespoli shared on Instagram a while back: Trailer Hitch Tape.
This is a hack born by the advent of that new technology, the back-up camera, and the fact that you can hitch up solo pretty easily nowadays without a helper waving their arm above the hitch receiver, assuming you have a camera-equipped truck.
But even with the back-up camera, it can still be hard to line everything up perfectly, especially if you have a dark painted trailer so--as it does so often in our sport--electrical tape saves the day.
Swipe right on the Vespoli Instagram post to see how it works.
Using the white electrical tape on the hitch and the trailer's receiver gives you a visual that pops on your truck's screen. All you have to do is line up the easier-to-see tape and that makes getting hitched up and on your way a lot simpler.
Combine this with the Rowing Hack for Backing Up Better, and the rest of our classic trailering tips, and you will look like a real pro next time you have to hit the road with a trailer full of boats.
Do you have a trailer trick or an Electrical Tape Hall of Fame-worthy tip like this one? If so, share your ideas--and hacks--in the comments below.
If you have a great rowing hack to suggest for future inclusion, then please send it to us--or maybe just post it on Instagram--and we will feature your idea in a future column.
