Following their program getting cut during the COVID pandemic, the San Diego State women raced in the Alumnae 8 event at the San Diego Crew Classic. They used the opportunity to voice their anger with the athletic department's decision by displaying signs immediately after crossing the finish line.

Coxswain Hannah Broadland would go on to cox the USA W8+ that summer at the World Championships in Racice, CZE.
