Fall Boathouse Prep
Checklist for the Start of Fall Season

The fall season is starting and while most of these items are common sense, in the chaos of starting a new season, it's easy to forget a few things. Here is a quick checklist

Trailers:
 Check trailer lights
 Tires (check for cracks and that they are holding pressure)
 Check breaks and bearings
 Update registration if required in your state
 Is your spare in good shape?
 Inspect straps and replace worn out ones
 Trailer stern flags

Launches:
 Service Launch motors
 Update registrations (if necessary)
 Clean launches
 Check safety equipment (life jackets, radios, lights, etc)
 Make sure water hasn’t leaked into fuel tanks (marinas often don’t check this)
 Is the fire extinguisher working?
 Pump out launch pontoons and check for leaks

Ergs:
 Oil erg chains
 Replace dead batteries
 Adjust or replace bungees on older ergs
 Clean

Boats:
 Check rigging on all boats (adjust for the fall season)
 Make sure all bolts are tight
 The steering wire is free of obstructions and hasn’t frayed
 Inspect wheels and bearings on seats
 Check wiring to make sure speakers, impellers, and stroke rates work
 Ensure shoes are still secure and heel ties are in place

Oars:
 Clean oar handles
 Check rigging on oars
 Make sure bolts are tight
 Make sure the correct sets of oars are together

Coxboxes:
 Power cycle cox boxes. (fully charge, drain them, then charge them again).
  Put cox boxes on a charging timer
 Power cycle megaphone batteries

General:
 Check you spare parts bins. Do they need a refill?
 Replace or check cleaning supplies (Hoses, towels, soap, brooms, brushes, etc)
 Has the first aid kit been resupplied?
 Are there any sharp objects (nails) sticking out on the dock
 Register for regattas
 Book regatta accomodations and transportation
 Order your racing shirts
 Anticipate winter equipment purchases to avoid shipping delays
