Fist-pump from the Dunk-ee of the Weekl

Your weekly round-up from row2k. Et vous pret?

Shushing is a Thing Now?

And, if “shushing” is in, what is the standard? Reserved for something like the above: Gtown besting Princeton for the first time in a decade or so? Or suitable for winning your 11th title in a row? When, apparently, a triple-shhh is de rigueur:

The Mystery of the Unusually Slow Times

Contact Coach Taylor if you have any theories.

Dunk-ing of the Week

It's pretty rare to get a flip and a collision all in one frame, especially in that order, but this made for the dunking of the week, no question — and, yes, everyone was okay afterwards.

Dunk-ee of the week

The Dunk-ee of the Week honors go to another Mercer Sprints competitor. As pictured above, and here, this guy was all smiles throughout the whole swim, possibly because his pair had already crossed the finish line:

Overall, the Mercer action swept this category, but we’ll still give an honorable mention to this sequence of the 4+ that flipped at the dock, post-race.

Next Level Stakeboat-ing

Stakeboaters have been back in action for a few weeks now, so they are getting creative for sure, from yoga to "Dance, Dance, Revolution"-ing and everything in between.

Weekly Avian Update from wild2k

The eaglet is growing fast, but, umm, it looks like mom is on to us:

It was a full week on the wild2k beat: Severn osprey, a Dexter Lake eagle, the Dogwood snake, and this Philly pigeon.

Sound on, of course:

The “Yeah, But” Tweet of the Year

Never was a regular season steering DQ so labored over, or more full of protest-shaming...but you can't row a shorter course and claim the win. Dem's the rules.

Plus, fwiw, most places put a DQ'd crew last, without a time, but sure: you could go this route, we guess.

Latest in Regatta Lounging

Hammock in the trailer a bit too 2019 for you? Then better back your beanbags, folks, like these cool kids at the Dogwood Regatta:

And, not to be outdone, they like to double-bag in Philly.

Busy Week for Retired Olympians

Sir Matthew got into it with a cat on twitter:

Eric went "Dancing...":

Gevvie went back to school, and sweeping:

Hamish is geeking out on data:

And Caroline, Alex and Moe are all in for LTR with Brie:

Bad Week for Home Course Advantage

On both coasts, apparently, when racing at Redwood Shores became racing into Redwood Shores for Cal's Women:

New Lwt Motivation Hack?

A Short Tale of Woe, in 2 Photos

A sad moment on the Schuylkill:

Fear not: the ball was rescued--and reunited with the boy--by the fireboat that was on safety (and lost ball) patrol under the bridge.

And Our "Are you the row2k guy?" Pic of the Week

Sure, The Mount may have swept pretty much all of their races on Saturday in Delaware and Sunday in Philadelphia, but this was definitely their other highlight of the weekend:

The row2k Top Results of the Week

  • NCAA AQ Watch at Lake Wheeler: Syracuse beat all ACC schools in attendance and Boston University outpaced the Patriot League rivals they faced on team points at the Lake Wheeler Invite
  • Georgetown Lights beat both Penn and Princeton on Saturday
  • Cal Men took 4 of 5 vs UW (all the Varsity races) at Redwood Shores on Saturday...
  • while UW Women took 4 of 5 vs Cal (all the 8's races) on the same day--a #10 over #7 upset--but no one submitted results, so...no link!
  • Dartmouth Heavies swept Brown on the Seekonk
  • The DIII #1's stayed in the win column--Williams Men vs Tufts & Wellesley Women at the NEWMAC Championships--as did DII's #1 Mercyhurst at the East Regional Invite
