At the 2019 World Rowing Championships in Linz, Austria, 23 year old German phenom Oliver Zeidler won his first world championship in the men's single scull. He won in about as exciting of a final as you can imagine, racing from fourth place at the 1500 to take the gold over Sverri Nielsen of Denmark and Kjetil Borch of Norway. The top five spots were separated by one second or about half a length. Then, on the awards ceremony, Nielsen and Borch threw Zeidler into lake. Watch the video of the race here.
