The Bates Varsity 8+ had just finished second in the Grand Final to Williams at the NCAA Championships. Then they paddled back toward the return dock passed the Williams Varsity 8+ celebrating with their teammates near shore.

Then the team standings were announced over the PA system, naming Bates the team championship (with their 2V8 having won 20 minutes prior). This photo was taken right when the crew heard they were the champs.
