You asked, and we listened! The 2025 San Diego Crew Classic will be debuting shorter racing events for our dedicated Masters rowers. Get ready for the Foundation Challenge races—500-meter sprints held after all 2k races conclude on Sunday, March 30th.

These races include four events: Men’s and Women’s Masters 8+s and Men’s and Women’s Masters 4xs, with medals and trophies awarded to the top contenders.

To make things even more exciting, we’re allowing composite crews for this event! That means you can race alongside teammates from across the country—or even around the world. So, reconnect with old alumni friends, assemble your crew, and sign up soon because spots are filling quickly.

We’re thrilled to continue bringing fresh, engaging events to the San Diego Crew Classic, boosting the spirit of the regatta with fun racing opportunities!

Congratulations to Texas Rowing Center for winning the Men's Masters Club 4X

After winning their heats, the crew managed secure their win with open water and an overall time of 6:22.821. This boat was full of all-stars, featuring: Ken Gates, the 1000m indoor rower record holder for 60-69 year old men, Texas Crew Coach Simon Borchelt, Yorktown Crew alumni John Cullicott, and Matt Knifton, owner of Texas Rowing Center and father of Olympian Kaitlin Knifton.
