Airports and freeways are filling up with athletes and trailers headed to San Diego for the Crew Classic today; if you will be there, here's to good racing and good times, along with some resources you might find useful during the weekend. And if you won't make it this year, here's what you need to know to follow along, and maybe you can join in next year.
The Saturday program starts at 7:10am and finishes up at 4:40pm, with a heap of heats throughout the day peppered through with some special events, including the Freedom Rows race and alumni races (women's final, men's heats). The racing includes heats of high school, college, masters, and alum events, so there is something for everyone on the day.
Sunday starts at 7:10am again and finishes up around 3pm, with finals all day long. The big collegiate finals for which the Crew Classic is best known start mid-morning, so early risers will be rewarded for their efforts fairly quickly.
The weather looks extremely promising and SoCal-like, with sunny conditions and highs in the low 70s both days. Winds are predicted to be WNW both days, which is a cross/cross-head from Lane 1.
