During the Newburgh crew meet at Kingston, Coach Kennedy, who coached Joey from 7th to 12th grades, remembered his as a rower, on April 27, 2012. On April 27, 2005, USMC Cpl. Joseph Tremblay gave his life for his country during Operation Iraqui Enduring Freedom. He was 23 years old. The NRC has established a scholarship and Flagpole in his memory. His dad, Larry Tremblay, is a good friend of the Crew Team.
