One Million Metre Row Charity Challenge

Simon Johns, Paul Isaacs, Sam de Kooker and Tom de Kooker from Guernsey, Channel Islands rowed one million metres in relay in 2009, setting a record for four men of 67 hours, 14 minutes and 54 seconds. Video kindly supplied by Peter Woodward, Chairman of the Guernsey MS Society

Berkeley High Crew Erg-a-thon 2011

A clip of the BHS Crew team fund raising by rowing on erg machines. A beautiful Saturday afternoon 12/3/11 after a morning practice on the water, both boys and girls teams rowed hard for 20 minutes, or approx 5km each. The location was the city park in downtown Berkeley in conjunction with farmers market and the art and craft fair.

Ivan Denisov visits VF Workout Gym and records his first ever attempt at 2000 Meters on the Concept 2 Rower. We respect Rowing greatly and enjoy the Concept 2 Rowing machine, so we wish no ill will towards Professional Rowers. Our aim is to point out the carry-over to other sports and forms of Fitness by exclusive use of the kettlebell. We obviously know a Pro Rower will do better than Ivan, but we feel this is a great first attempt at 2000m.

My best 6000m indoor rowing time

My new best 6000m time of 16m40s (average 30 strokes pm and 1m22s per 500m). Before anyone complains that I have faked this time I should point out that it was recorded on a Proteus PAR-5500 and not a Concept 2 so it is not possible to make direct comparisons with official competition times. Still, not bad for a 40 year old who only started rowing a year ago.

Watch C4 presenter and former GB runner Iwan Thomas take on adaptive rowing World Champion and London 2012 hopeful David Smith over 500m on a rowing machine in Trafalgar Square as part of the International Paralympic Day celebrations. Thomas's only advice beforehand? "Go ugly early." How hard can it be? Smith previously represented GB at karate and bobsleigh before switching to adaptive rowing with an eye on the 2012 Paralympic Games and won gold in the GB Rowing Team's adaptive mixed coxed four at the 2011 World Championships in Bled, Slovenia, after recovering from a neck operation to remove a tumour from his spine: youtu.be

First annual Thunder Fest row-off - Vikes varsity women take on Vikes freshmen men in a 2000-metre erg relay. Part of the Sept. 16, 2011, Thunder Fest activities on campus. FYI, the women's machine was set for 1800 metres and the men's machine was set for 2000 metres which reflects the gold-medal difference from heavyweight men and women. It comes down to the wire... watch to see who wins...
