Nick Trojan Rows 51k In Open Ocean Nick Trojan · February 23, 2015 Starting from the Pete Archer Rowing Center, Nick Trojan rowed "26" (actually longer 51k) to Avalon Harbor, Catalina Island just before a small storm picked up.
Reminds us of the days of the Catalina to Marina del Rey race, hosted by the CA Yacht Club from 1977 until about 2004/2005. Alot of open water competitors cut our teeth on that race, plus it was a great testing grounds for open water rowing shell design. By the last couple of miles you were thinking "never again"; but a few hours after finishing, you're already thinking how times could be improved next year.. Miss those days!
