Joan Lind - America's Sculler Jean A. Strauss · April 28, 2015 At the 2015 San Diego Crew Classic, Olympians and National Team Members talk about Joan Lind Van Blom and the impact she had on the early years of women's international rowing - and the impact she continues to have to this day.
Besides the azimuth skill, boundless commitment, courage, I witnessed Joan in moments of such kindness, grace, humanity. And then she'd get on the water and destroy you. Yeah. My word would be GRACE.
I have known JVB for around 10 years and had the pleasure of spending a few days with her and Mr JVB earlier this month during my visit to Long Beach. She is a rowing legend and one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Always smiling and always positive. She is beautiful inside and out.
A rowing legend, an amazing ambassador for the sport, a stalwart friend, a profile in courage and commitment both on the water, on the erg, and in life, and an inspiration to so, so many. in health and in affliction. If that weren't enough, she's a beautiful person in every possible way. Joan Lind Van Blom, you rock. Period.
