2017 Outlook
"We kicked off our fall with a promising performance at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston. By improving from 14th in the Women's Collegiate Eights in 2015 to 8th place in 2016, the Varsity 8+ proved to themselves that they are making necessary progress. We went on to also win the Eagle Collegiate Challenge in Indianapolis, beating crews whom we struggled with in 2015-2016. Through the remainder of fall and now into winter, our push for consistent improvement will make soon come to fruition when we hit the water again this spring. The leadership and teamwork we have in our varsity crews will lead to very competitive racing in May."
-Coach West and Coach Soblech

row2k Interview - Sarah Zelenka
Sarah Zelenka is a newcomer to the US women's senior national team, but she's already made a name for herself in 2010. Hailing from club program Grand Valley State, Zelenka won two golds at the Lucerne World Cup: a dominating win in the W4- and a come from behind win in the W8+.

2017 Outlook
"The Grand Valley State University Rowing Club is looking forward to another competitive spring season. While both squads are relatively young the men are led by a core group of juniors and seniors with competitive experience at major regattas. Augmenting that group of athletes are a few of the top guys out of Coach Costas Ciungan's Freshman 8 that finished second at ACRA in last year’s event. We expect our varsity men to be a finalist level crew at Dad Vail and ACRA. Our novice squad this year is smaller than in past years, however it is led by some highly capable athletes who we believe will be a positive contribution to the future of the Laker Navy men's crew."
