Returning Varsity 8+ Athletes - 8

2024 Outlook - "This year's Minnesota squad combines a strong senior class with sophomores who won the National Championship in the Novice 4 event, and there are high expectations for the team to compete for medals at ACRA. Last fall, the squad set many records for time trials on the Mississippi, and raced toe to toe with Notre Dame and Michigan. The freshman class of 2027 has many strong, athletic walk-ons under new novice coach Steve Whicher. The team will race in Georgia, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Washington, DC in preparation for the ACRA National Championships in Oak Ridge, TN in May."

2023 Seniors - 3
2023 Outlook - "The team is excited to welcome new head coach Scott Armstrong, who coached for 17 years at Dartmouth College and has won Eastern Sprints, IRA and Henley championships. The squad is stepping up to a new level and fall results were encouraging, as Minnesota took home 4 medals and 2 trophies from the Bald Eagle Collegiate Invitational. This year’s squad is young and improving fast, with sophomores and juniors filling key seats in all boats. Junior Caleb Nollenberger will be trying out for the US National Team this summer. Most of the team are walk-ons who never rowed before arriving at the U, but the calm waters of the Mississippi River and a training trip to Miami has allowed the new oarsmen to greatly improve their technique and fitness this year. The team is looking forward to spring racing and peaking for the ACRA National Championships in May."

2016 Outlook - "This 2016 Season will start at the John Hunter Regatta in Gainesville, GA. A dense travel schedule will have the team travel more than previous years but will provide ample race opportunities before the May championship regattas. The team has grown in numbers and talent since last spring and will lean on its senior leadership to bring great results at the Dad Vail and ACRA regattas in 2016."

2013 Outlook - "With only two seniors the young gopher squad is looking to build on the teams success in the coxed fours at last years ACRA and Dad Vail regattas and break into contention in the eights events. With one of the strongest freshman classes in recent program history, there are high expectations for the novice squad and a good outlook for the program in coming years."
