2015 Outlook - “The LMU Men are continuing to improve our level of technical sophistication and our culture of excellence. Two athletes competed for national level for clubs last summer, and we hope to increase that number in 2015. We are gaining in strength and speed as our depth increases. We are recruiting lightweights and heavyweights with our ultimate goal of being competitive nationally in both categories.”
-Head Coach Peter Mallory
2013 Outlook - "After taking the helm at mid-year, I have been tremendously impressed by the work ethic of my seven upperclass returnees. Hats off to my predecessors, Tom Paradiso and Luke Cunningham. With the inspiration of LMU Hall of Fame Coach John Lind to guide us, this year we will continue our surge toward true excellence on the national stage. We are working hard to excel in lightweight and heavyweight fours at the 2013 WIRA Championships."
-Head Coach Peter Mallory
2010 Outlook - "This group of 10 Varsity athletes are not only determined to race the 8 at the WIRA Championships, they are working to stand on the podium as well. As we move through the spring we are moving from small boat training to the 8+ and will soon be in the 8+ every day. With 5 seniors leading this team it will be tough to keep them off the podium at our Championships. Our walk-on novice athletes are training hard, learning the basics and are looking to contribute to the growth of this program"
-Head Coach Scott Charette
2022 Outlook - "We share the same sentiment as many others when I say it feels great to have a full spring racing schedule ahead of us once again. Last spring, we had 12 rowers and 2 coxswains competing at the WCC Championships and had to file a waiver with the conference to be allowed to race as exhibition due to too few student-athletes participating. This year, we have commenced on the process of rebuilding our roster numbers and depth. We have a young team that continues to work hard at making changes, displays a lot of focus on improving, and applies great intent to what they do each day. I truly appreciate our seniors that are still with us, and the graduate students that returned for this year, on sticking with it through such a challenging time. We look forward to what lies ahead for our team. GO LIONS!"
-Head Coach Karl Huhta
2021 Outlook - "Due to varying levels of comfort surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we have a small number of Lions that will be representing us on the race course this spring, respectfully. While not a big squad, this group is bursting with enthusiasm, constructive attitudes, and a desire to improve and work together. They are focused, supportive, and curious to continue learning about themselves and how they can most positively impact the experience of their teammates. Wonderful growth mindsets are on display. It should be noted that we have some terrific seniors that have chosen not to race this spring, but they have made incredible impacts on our program in their time at LMU and deserve to be recognized for their efforts to continue moving our team forward. They will be missed once they graduate, and we are thankful to spend time with them here in Los Angeles while we can. Go Lions!"
-Head Coach Karl Huhta
2020 Outlook - "There are two things you can never have enough of: Love, and bend on the oar. And we’re having a lot of fun embracing both."
-Head Coach Karl Huhta
2019 Outlook - "Last year we focused heavily on mindset and team culture. This year we have been able to continue to build off of that foundation and pursue more speed. We have a young team again this year and we are looking forward to seeing what these young women can accomplish in the coming months."
-Head Coach Hanna Luft
2018 Outlook - "Our daily mission is to be mindful of the work we are doing on and off the water. We have a new coaching staff and an incredibly young team which presents us with a unique opportunity to establish a solid foundation for the future. The past few months we have been intentionally focused on building team culture, and I am excited by the prospect of what this program can accomplish both this season and in the coming years."
-Head Coach Hanna Osborne
2014 Outlook - "We are looking forward to 2014. With a very solid freshman class and much better depth we are ready to make a next step forward towards NCAA's."
-Head Coach Vaclav Kacir
2013 Outlook - "We are lucky to have a lot of leaders on the team, from the top to the bottom, and are looking to improve on last year's WCC finish. 2013 is an exciting season, and I am looking forward to having a WCC representative at the NCAAs."
-Head Coach Vaclav Kacir
