HS/Scholastic: Taft School Boys vs. Choate Rosemary Hall Boys
April 25, 2007; Bantam Lake, Litchfield, CT

Submitted by Colin Farrar.

Distance: 1500M
Conditions: Sequence 4th-3rd-2nd-1st boats. Calm winds, smooth water for 4th boat. Progressively increasing headwind and slight chop for next three races.
Comments: Choate entered three boats in the "4th" boat race, and they all made a legitimate bid for the win, with Taft rowing hard but showing their inexperience, catching a crab, and finishing well back. The 3rd and 2nd boat races looked more competitive, but Choate pulled away steadily to commanding victories. The first boats, however, fought tooth and nail. Taft jumped to a 1 boatlength lead off the start, maintaining a higher rating throughout the race. Choate steadily crawled back, however, rowing long and strong, taking the lead just after the 750m point and finishing with a 1 boatlength lead at the line. Nice racing by all rowers.
