Conditions: Comments: "An Old School Duel of Classic Proportions"
There was a lot of pride at stake in today's cross-town confrontation between
George Washington University and their rivals from Georgetown. And just a
little history too.
Today's men-only varsity event was a 'best-of-5' match races. The crews raced
on the Potomac River from Key Bridge to Washington Harbour, a distance of a
little over a half mile. George Washington's JV Eight and Freshman Eight raced
Georgetown in a 'best-of-3' series.
Joining the varsity events this year again were alumni races. Alumni of each
school raced each other in two age classes:
"Young Alumni": Grad's - 35 years
"Masters Alumni": 35 - 50+ years
Conditions: light tail and moderate current early on with incoming tide for
later varsity crew races.
