The 4th Annual Pacific Rim Indoor Rowing Championships (Ergotica), jointly sponsored by Portland Boat Club and the Portland State University Crew, was held on the campus of Portland State University on Saturday, January 30th.

Ergotica is a 2000-meter rowing ergometer race open to juniors, open, and masters competitors. There were 76 contestants and 12 events, including a coxswains race and 4-rower relays. Concept II provided the racing software, erg displays, and computer interface, all of which worked perfectly (many thanks, Concept!). Oregon Rowing Unlimited and Lake Oswego Rowing Club provided the Model C Concept II ergometers.

Prizes and Certificates of Merit were awarded to the first, second and third place finishers. The first place prize was a very useful carpenters hammer, second place prize was Dr. John Rudoffs famous Rowers Wrench, and the coveted third place prize was a bag of fresh-baked home-made chocolate-chip and peanut butter cookies.

If erg racing can be considered fun, a good time was had by all.
