RCMB (Reial Club Maritim de Barcelona) is one of the oldest clubs in Spain. First Club Name was Club de Regates de Barcelona†founded on 1881 but after a convulsing scission was split in two new clubs RCMB and RCNB in 1902. RCMB was first Spanish team participating in an Olympic Games (Paris 1900). Spanish Rowing Federation was also founded by and at RCMB on 1918. Catalonian Rowing Federation was also promoted by RCMB on 1922. As Maritime club, that means all involved in maritime sports, RCMB founded also Spanish (1911) and Catalonian (1912) Nautical Federations start point for Spanish and Catalonian Sailing associations.
On 1930 was also one of the founders of the Spanish Motorboat Federation first attempt of the Spanish Speedboat Federation (1965). RCMB sportsmen have won thousands national awards and hundreds international, including some Olympic gold medals (sailing). RCMB today has a high level rowing team and is hosting UPC Polytechnic University of Catalonia rowing team. Both teams train at Barcelona's Harbour or at Olympic Chanel of Castelldefels facilities.
