Brand new boat, less than 24 hours old. Hadn't even taken it off my car yet. Ice storm damage from night before caused a tree to crash. Note license plate.
License says "ROW4FUN". For Fluids, best repairs is to just send it back to Gord. He can rebuild ANY damage done to a Fluid. One of the advantages of the single skin.
After you call Jon, you then need to call Tony Nez @ ShellRepair USA, he'll fix it like new! Mine was in three pieces and this one is only in two, No Sweat for NEZ!
Three choices:
A. So you were looking for a new logo for the club?
B. If you had only invested in a cover
C. If the guy across the street is still driving that pickup, do you have a boat he can buy to go with it!
Not necessarily. The tree definitely is heavier compared to the boat, but not stronger. It fell pretty far -- large force compared to the composite materials just sitting there.
Can someone explain how a new eight can cost more than a new car? Think of all the technology and engineering in a car. Think of all the moving parts, the electronics and the stresses. Then compare all that to a little lump of plastic and a bit of carbon fiber. Boats cost WAY too much.
rowing is a niche market, you dont mass produce shells, so the engineering costs are not spread over thousands of boats.
They are done by hand into a mold. There is a "How its made" at the Hudson plant. Also the materials. Carbon fiber is $$$ - especially because the military buys it up.
Then again Im sure a lot of it is whats known as "perceptual pricing" where people believe they get what they pay for so on a subconscious level they want to pay more - thinking they get better quality.
By all means start a company and do something about it.
