Have to go with Delaware on this one. Varsity sprints schools (whether or not they are lightweight or novice) should be able to beat club teams and lower tier varsity programs, but for a club team like Delaware to beat an Ivy League School and a member of the Eastern Sprints is a big deal. Plus I grew up in the First State. Blue Hens all the way!
Voted for Wisco LN8. Excellent showing! Wanted to vote Blue Hens, but I think they will be relatively successful, reserving their crew of the week victory for another week. I am not sure what the big deal about Columbia is. They are a sprints school, and beat up on the king/queens of the Dad Vail, who recently havent even been so hot in that league
Wisconsin light novice won their womens novice 8 heat by ---40 seconds--- and continued to demolish the competition in a similar manner later that day in semi's. The novice crew raced VARSITY and beat second place mit by 13.7 seconds. As soon as the race was over, the crew turned the boat at the finish line, rowed up to the starting line, and got locked in for grand finals of the womens OPEN novice 8. Wisco, in third after the first 25 strokes, walked through 1st and 2nd and continued to get more throughout the race. Overall finishing in front of second place by 10 seconds. Keep in mind, this crew had about 9 days of water practice before racing. The clear choice here is WISCONSIN LIGHTWEIGHT NOVICE 8!
while it is true that the lovely lionesses of columbia met a seasonable setback the fact that through resourceful re-rigging and savvy yet sensible switches the marvelous maidens of morningside were able to rebound with two strong exhibitions in which they struck terrible furry into the hearts and souls of their opponents is what makes this TEAM EFFORT so exciting exhilarating extensive extravagant extreme and eyepopping. These other crews had great performances no doubt and they should be proud but they are simply no match in comparison with the resounding roar of the Lions!
hmmm heres the thing though. you see, during this busy month of competition, the columbia women have set their sights high. they have had great chances to test their speed, and have achieved and maintained speeds on which i cannot even comment. the rowers' openness and honesty is unparalleled, and i know this for a fact. the regattas that they take place in are simply appalling because the manners of the other teams do not even come close to the way these fine young women hold themselves. anyone that knows the difference between a 2k and a 10k will also know that patience is a virtue. it goes without saying. i would like to propose that patience will be met with hostility if you do not vote for columbia women, because it will simply not be condoned.
we could talk about tapering... yes, we could talk about tapering. but the truth of the matter is, souls are immortal. i do not need to say this, but i will: do not talk to the columbia women about tapering.
