Folks - several people have written me inquiring whether or not we can establish a message or posting board to inform the rowing world about the safety of folks working in New York and Washington DC, or potentially flying on any of the planes involved. Given the large number of current and former rowers working in the affected cities and regions, a central, moderated clearinghouse for news of our friends makes considerable sense. We've considered several different ways to do this that would not instigate rumors that might be hurtful to the families and friends of anyone involved, as has happened on some public survivor lists. As a result, I am compiling a list of names of members of the rowing community that are confirmed safe; if you would like me to include your name or the name of friends of with whom you have made contact, please send them to me at ed@row2k.com.
Please be certain of the veracity of any information you send. In the case of anyone who is missing or lost, we may not post the information immediately in deference to the wishes and best interests of the families and friends of these people; when we can confirm this kind of information, and can make sure that the families have been notified, we will post any appropriate information.

He is alternating his shifts between working at the firehouse, and down in the rubble. You can put him on the list." Special thanks to JB
